Meet Stanley
Born into a South Indian family of deeply religious, prayerful Christian healers, Stanley Mathuram arrived in the United States to pursue graduate studies in Environmental Engineering. Once here, he recognized the need for natural medicine without the side effects often associated with synthetic drugs.
In 2004, Stanley inherited his family's original formulations. After many painstaking hours of research and prayer, he was finally able to decipher the formulations. He insisted on using only the best wild-harvested, organic herbs to create Guru Salve.
People were amazed at the efficacy of Guru Salve in providing relief from pain, fever, cough, cold and flu symptoms. He finally felt that an avenue was revealed to serve the Lord and to further the family legacy of preaching, healing, and caring.

The story of Guru Remedies starts in the early 19th century in Tinnevelly, a small village in south India. Here, Nullamuthu Visuvasam was a catechist and an eminent Indian physician, trained in both western medicine and Indian Ayurveda. In his explorations of healing and prayer, Visuvasam encountered sanyasis (ascetics) who favored him with certain rare medicinal formulations. Drawing from these eclectic sources, Visuvasam began to experiment and create the first Guru formulations.
Not much more is known about Nullamuthu Visuvasam, but we do know that his grandson, Dr. Samuel Mathuram, was born in 1849 in a little town in South India called Nazareth. He preserved and honed the formulations of his grandfather and in turn passed them onto his son, Dr. A. Mathuram, who established Guru Medical Hall, an establishment that still serves the community today.
Prayer played an integral role in the development of these formulations. According to family stories, Dr. A. Mathuram would spend hours alone in deep communion with God. In fact, in the ancient handwritten recipes from Guru Medical Hall, the word "pray" is interspersed between precise directions for blending the ingredients.
Stanley Mathuram, the great grandson of the legendary Dr. A. Mathuram inherited Dr. A. Mathuram's original formulations and started GuruRemedies.com in 2005.
